Leucine has been used as a molecular marker in the recovery of DNA from paleontological samples for PCR analysis.

Solubility
Soluble in water. Soluble in 1M HCl (100 mg/ml), water (24.3 mg/ml), acetic acid (10.9 mg/ml), and alcohol. Insoluble in ether.
Notes
Store away from oxidizing agents. Keep the container tightly closed and place it in a cool, dry and well ventilated condition.
