- Catalyzes oligonucleotide primer-driven, DNA-template-dependent incorporation of dNTPs into complimentary DNA strands
- Displays both 5' to 3' polymerase and exonuclease activities
- Used for the DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in order to amplify DNA sequences
